Build Your Hoymiles System

Start with a microinverter, match the gateway, cabling, and meter, add free monitoring — then add storage when you’re ready.

What a DTU is for

The Data Transfer Unit is the communication hub: it collects each microinverter’s data over Sub-1G wireless and sends it to S-Miles Cloud. It’s also how you set the grid profile.

DTU-Pro vs DTU-PRO-S

  • DTU-Pro (Wi-Fi or 4G) — for the HM microinverter line.
  • DTU-PRO-S (Wi-Fi or 4G) — for the HMS line.
4G versions come with a data-plan option. Match the DTU to your microinverter line — see DTU Gateways.

Why Sub-1G?

Standard 2.4GHz Wi-Fi struggles through walls and over distance. Hoymiles’ proprietary Sub-1G link is built for industrial-grade stability so monitoring stays connected.

Remember: the microinverter operates without a DTU, but you need one to monitor and to change the grid profile (e.g., CA Rule 21 → IEEE 1547).
