What happens if one panel is shaded?
Each module has its own MPPT, so a shaded or underperforming panel doesn’t drag down the rest of the array — a key advantage over a single string inverter.

Commissioning process?

How many microinverters can one DTU monitor?
Each DTU supports a set number of microinverters depending on model and signal conditions. Plan one DTU per array group and confirm the per-DTU device limit on the current datasheet.
What panel wattage and DC/AC ratio do they support?
Hoymiles microinverters are built for high-power modules (commonly 500W and up) with oversizing to manage clipping. Confirm exact limits for each model on its datasheet.
How do I set or change the grid profile?
Units ship factory-set for CA Rule 21. Use a connected DTU to change the grid profile (for example IEEE 1547) to match the local utility and AHJ before commissioning.
Do I need a meter, and which one?
For consumption and export monitoring, add the DTSU666 split-phase meter. It reports household import and export to S-Miles Cloud alongside per-panel production.
How does the AC cabling work?
HMS units run on the AC trunk system and HM-NT units use the HM-N connector system, with end caps to terminate runs. Keep each branch within its rated microinverter count per NEC and the installation manual.
