Rapid Shutdown & NEC 690.12
Module-level safety, built in — what rapid shutdown means and how Hoymiles delivers it.
What rapid shutdown is
NEC 690.12 requires that a rooftop PV array can be quickly de-energized for responder safety. Because a microinverter converts at the module and shuts down with the grid, Hoymiles units provide native module-level rapid shutdown without separate add-on devices. For systems that need a dedicated device, the HRSD-2C rapid-shutdown unit is available (25-year warranty).
CA Rule 21 and grid profiles
Hoymiles microinverters ship factory-set for CA Rule 21. An installer can change the grid profile (for example to IEEE 1547) using a DTU to match the local utility and AHJ.
Always verify: confirm the required grid profile and rapid-shutdown documentation for your jurisdiction on the official datasheet and with your AHJ.
