Outback GS Load Center for Radian Inverter/Chargers
The OutBack Power GS Load Center (GSLC) is the essential balance-of-system enclosure designed specifically for the Radian Series (GS) inverter/chargers. It serves as the connection hub for your entire renewable energy system, housing the AC and DC disconnects, overcurrent protection, and the critical maintenance bypass assembly.
Designed to mount directly underneath the Radian inverter, it creates a seamless, professional-looking “one-box” solution that eliminates the need for messy external wiring troughs and custom breaker panels.
Why Choose the GS Load Center
The GSLC turns a complex installation into a plug-and-play experience. Without it, installing a Radian inverter requires sourcing a separate electrical panel, buying loose breakers, and fabricating custom conduit runs. The GSLC integrates everything: it bolts directly to the inverter, providing a unified location for your PV input, battery connection, and AC grid/generator inputs.
Available Configurations
The GSLC is available in several tiers to suit different needs:
-
GSLC (Base Model): An empty enclosure with busbars. Ideal for custom DIY builds where you want to select your own breakers.
-
GSLC175-AC-120/240: Includes AC bypass and 175A DC breakers.
-
GSLC175-PV: (Most Popular) Fully pre-wired. Includes 175A DC disconnects, AC maintenance bypass, plus PV ground fault protection (GFDI) and PV input breakers. Ready to go out of the box.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Which model do I need for the GS8048A inverter?
For the 8kW Radian (GS8048A), you typically want the GSLC175-PV (if you have solar) or the GSLC175-AC-120/240 (if you are just doing battery backup). The “175” refers to the 175A main DC breaker, which is sized correctly for the 8kW unit.
Q2: Does this work with non-Radian inverters?
No. The GSLC is physically designed to bolt onto the hanging bracket and chassis of the OutBack Radian (GS) Series. For the FXR or VFX series, you would use the FLEXpower (FP) systems or a generic enclosure.
Q3: Can I install this outside?
No. The GSLC is a NEMA 1 enclosure, intended for indoor use only. It is not watertight. If you must install the system outside, you need to build a weather-tight shed or shelter around the equipment.
Q4: What is the “Bypass Assembly”?
The bypass is a set of circuit breakers with a mechanical sliding plate. It ensures you cannot have the “Grid Input” and “Inverter Output” breakers on at the same time improperly, but allows you to force power from the Grid directly to your Load panel, completely bypassing the inverter for maintenance.
Q5: Does the base model come with breakers?
No. The base GSLC is just the metal box, ground bus, and a few basic DC positive/negative busbars. It does not include the main 175A breaker, the bypass assembly, or PV breakers. You must buy those separately or choose a pre-wired model.
