SMA Sunny Tripower X 13-US (STP 13-US-50): 13 kW commercial string inverter for 120/208 V three-phase systems

The SMA STP 13-US-50 (manufacturer part number 03-13-800-2-50) is the 13 kW model of the Sunny Tripower X 30 family, SMA’s proven three-phase string inverter platform for commercial and industrial PV systems in the United States. It converts up to 26,000 Wp of PV array power into 13,000 W of three-phase AC at 208 V / 120 V (3-phase WYE), using 3 independent MPP trackers with 2 string inputs each, so installers can split rooftops with different orientations, tilts or module counts across dedicated trackers.

This model is purpose-built for 120/208 V WYE service, the grid configuration found in many small and mid-size commercial buildings, schools, warehouses and multifamily properties. It connects directly without a step-up transformer, and supports up to 200 % DC:AC design flexibility per SMA.

Installation and application notes

• Mounting: Vertical rack or wall mount, up to 15° from horizontal.
• DC wiring: Amphenol H4 Plus connectors; AC wiring: Spring-cage terminal.
• Rapid shutdown: the inverter transmits the SunSpec PLC keep-alive signal; pair with SunSpec-certified module-level shutdown devices (e.g. SMA JMS-F / JMS-FA, sold separately).
• Commissioning and monitoring through the integrated System Manager web interface or the SMA 360° app; system registration in Sunny Portal powered by ennexOS.
• Grid support functions per UL 1741 SB / IEEE 1547-2018 including CA Rule 21 profiles; see the SMA derating and grid-management technical information for high-temperature and high-altitude operation.

Optional ACTIVE / COMFORT warranty extensions of +5 or +10 years are available from SMA (total coverage cannot exceed 20 years). Frequently asked questions

When will this model be available?

This is a newly released SMA model. CSE Solar USA is accepting pre-order inquiries; availability and lead time are confirmed by SMA and will be posted here. Contact CSE for the current status.

What grid voltage does the SMA STP 13-US-50 connect to?

It is designed for 208 V / 120 V (3-phase WYE) three-phase WYE service. Use the 480 V models (STP 20/25/30-US-50 or STP 50/62/70-US-80) for 277/480 V service.

How many strings can I connect?

3 MPP trackers with 2 string inputs each (6 strings total), up to 24 A operating current and 37.5 A short-circuit current per tracker.

Does it include rapid shutdown?

The inverter integrates the SunSpec PLC rapid shutdown transmitter and is UL 3741 PV Hazard Control listed. Module-level shutdown devices are purchased separately.

Do I need a separate data logger?

No for systems of up to 5 inverters: the integrated SMA System Manager (ennexOS) handles commissioning, monitoring and power control. Larger plants use the SMA Data Manager M.

What is the warranty?

10 years SMA Limited Factory Warranty in the USA, extendable to 15 or 20 years through SMA.

Is this the current model?

Yes. STP 13-US-50 is listed by SMA America as a current Sunny Tripower X 30 model (datasheet revision 08/2025).
