- What is the difference between Fronius GEN24 and GEN24 Plus?
- Both use the same platform: single-phase 208/240 V, 3.8 to 10 kW, two MPP trackers and PV Point basic backup. GEN24 Plus adds a high-voltage battery input (150–455 V) and supports Essential Backup and Full Backup. A GEN24 can be upgraded to GEN24 Plus with the Fronius UP.storage software upgrade.
- What is Fronius PV Point?
- PV Point is basic backup built into GEN24 and GEN24 Plus: during a grid outage it supplies one outlet with up to 1,560 VA at 120 V while the sun shines, without a battery. Fronius also offers the PV Point Comfort retrofit board, which keeps the outlet powered (1.6 kW continuous at 120 V).
- Which batteries work with the Fronius GEN24 Plus in the US?
- Fronius US currently lists the RENON Xtreme HV 1.0 US battery (9.6, 14.4 or 19.2 kWh) for GEN24 Plus. CSE confirms compatibility and the backup configuration for every project.
- Does the Fronius GEN24 meet rapid shutdown requirements?
- GEN24 has a built-in SunSpec power-line transmitter certified as PV rapid-shutdown equipment for NEC 2023 section 690.12. Fronius states it must be installed with other equipment, such as SunSpec-compliant module-level devices, to form a complete rapid-shutdown system. The Fronius Rapid Shutdown Box is for SnapINverters, not GEN24.
- What does the Fronius Smart Meter WR do?
- The Smart Meter WR is a bidirectional meter that reports grid and load energy flow to the inverter over Modbus RTU (RS485), for self-consumption and feed-in control. Fronius requires it at the feed-in point for GEN24 Essential Backup and when other energy producers are present.
- What is the Fronius Essential Backup Load Unit (EBLU)?
- The EBLU is a microgrid interconnect device for the GEN24 Plus. During an outage it disconnects the grid from the GEN24 Plus and the backup subpanel; it is designed for 50 A of grid passthrough. Fronius made it available in the US from April 30, 2026. Ask CSE about availability.
- Is the Fronius Symo Advanced still available?
- Fronius US still lists Symo Advanced three-phase models. At CSE they are Call for Availability: send your project details and CSE confirms availability for each order.
- I have a Fronius Primo SnapINverter. Can CSE help?
- Yes. CSE keeps previous-generation Fronius Primo listings and SnapINverter accessories for replacement and service. Availability is confirmed per request. For new systems, CSE recommends the Fronius GEN24 or GEN24 Plus; a GEN24 is not a drop-in replacement, so the design must be checked.
